Dr Jawanza Kunjufu

Dr. Jawanza Kunjufu is a prolific Author, Business Man & Education Consultant from the USA. He has authored 33 books including national best sellers such as, Black Economics, Black Students: Middle Class Teachers; Keeping Black Boys Out of Special Education; An African Centered Response to Ruby Payne’s Poverty Theory; Raising Black Boys; 200 Plus Educational Strategies to Teach Children of Color; and his latest title, Understanding Black Male Learning Styles. Other books include - Developing Strong Black Male Ministries and Satan, I'm Taking Back My Health!. His work has been featured in Ebony and Essence Magazine, and he has been a guest on BET & Oprah.

As an enterprise which helps communities, Dr Kunjufu has devised SETCLAE - An Africentric Multicultural Curriculum. (Self-Esteem Through Culture Leads to Academic Excellence). It is used in over 5,000 Schools! The program is a model curriculum that provides a mechanism from which educators, and parents can teach their children the positive aspects of their cultural heritage and simultaneously increase their self-esteem and their desire to excel.

Lee Jasper

Mr Lee Jasper BA (hons) has a wealth of experience that includes over 30 years as a leading campaigner for social justice and race equality & 8 years as a Senior Policy Director for Equalities and Policing in London. During this time he has established a range of leading black community & anti racist organisations. He enjoys a national and international profile. As the Former Mayor of London's Director for Policing and Equalities, Lee played a part in the roll out of Safer Neighbourhood crime reduction programme and leading edge equalities policies. Lee Jasper is involved in Equanomics, and has pioneered and chaired the world’s first Olympic Diversity Committee.

Toyin Dania, African Foundation For Development (AFFORD-UK)

AFFORD’s mission is to enhance and expand the capacity of Africans in the diaspora to contribute to Africa's development.

AFFORD mobilises African diaspora communities/groups to invest their time, as well as their financial, intellectual, cultural, political and social capital to create/support small, micro & medium sized enterprises (SMMEs) that focus on providing employment opportunities for young people in DRC, Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Uganda.

Toyin Dania is passionate about business development, especially in Africa. She has now become the Director of AFFORD Business Centre - to consolidate their offering of business entrepreneurship programs in Sierra Leone and other countries in Africa.

Toyin also runs her own consultancy – TDCS Ltd supporting entrepreneurs with strategic project management nationally and in Africa.

Jak Beula

Jak Beula Dodd (born Johnny Alexander Bubeula Dodd on July 4, 1963) is an entrepreneur specializing in African-centred products for the education, leisure and entertainment industries. He has also been an author, columnist, songwriter, musician, social-worker, entrepreneur and former international model, and he is best known for inventing the award-winning board game Nubian Jak.

At the conference, Jak will be leading the Young Black Economics Future Entrepreneurs Workshop (12 to 17 yrs)

Diana Powell

Diana Powell MInstF PGCE BA (Hons)
Founder and CEO of The Global Institute of Entrepreneurship (GIE) Business Consultant - Llewellyn Powell Consultancy (LPC) and a member of the Academy of Entrepreneurship and Sporting Excellence (AESE). Diana has over 20 years working within education, youth development and the charitable sector. As a qualified teacher Diana has lectured in business and enterprise within Further Education and Higher Education establishments across London. She has also provided Business Advice support for Haringey Business Lounge, Haringey Adult Learning Service, Business Links, Enterprise Enfield, Milton Keynes Chambers of Commerce and Prevista. With her has extensive knowledge in supporting and developing social enterprises primarily targeting African and Caribbean communities, Diana has developed a number of programmed specifically for this group. As a Prince Trust Awardee at the age of 20 Diana is also very passionate about supporting children and young people to develop an entrepreneur mind-set.

 

   

Ifayomi Grant

Ifayomi Grant is a writer, management consultant and public speaker. He is the author of six books, and owner of the business "House of Knowledge"

Ifayomi has lectured, run workshops and seminars in the UK and overseas on a variety of topics related to the condition of Black people in the UK and around the world. He has been interviewed on a number of radio programmes in the UK and US including: local BBC Radio network . He was a guest lecturer on the historic www.gammission.com tour to Gambia which took over 100 Afrikans from the UK to the Gambia in October 2007. He has also delivered lectures in the United States and the Netherlands. Paul has extensive experience of working with people in an interactive and engaging manner.

Khami Alexander

Khami Alexander is the founder and principal consultant of Kaytime Consulting, an award-winning media, marketing and management consultancy regarded by many as a leader in its field. The PUSH Graduate Recruitment Programme involved working with close to 50% of the UK's FTSE 100 organizations to redress the racial diversity imbalance on shortlists for graduate opportunities within these organisations. The Business Advice Show focussed on creating a more even playing field for small black business owners to gain better access to finance and procurement opportunities, whilst redressing the disproportionately low take-up of free government enterprise agency services which they were entitled to.

Kaytime is renowned for its leadership development work and its award-winning, bottom-up, employee-led Diversity & Change management strategies that have been instrumental in transforming career opportunities for Black Asian and Minority Ethnic employees within major blue-chip companies, such as Shell International, EDF Energy, Thomson Reuters, Home Office etc
