National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. Chattanooga Chapter is a diverse group of African American women fulfilling the mission to advocate on behalf of women of color through our agendas on leadership development and on gender equity in health, education, and economic development.
Since the date of our chartering, October 26, 1995, programs and activities have been developed and implemented in accordance with the organization’s Mission Statement. Partnerships have been created with locally based civic, social and community organizations and the corporate sector. With these partnerships, NCBW has continued its goal of addressing issues that impact African American women, in particular.
We are proud of our success stories. Over the years we have provided laptops and over $170,000 dollars in scholarships to area high school seniors through our “Reach to the Future” Scholarship program. Our Sista-to-Sista mentoring program with Tyner Academy and Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy is designed to help students grow academically, socially, economically and to lower the dropout rate. We recognize those African-American women in our local community who have charted the course for women, particularly during an era when doors were not open to women of color through our annual Pioneer Women Awards Luncheon. We also collaborate with area doctors, health organizations and community partners to provide programs and material pertinent to women and the risk of HIV/AIDS.
The local chapter is a 501(C)3 tax exempt organization, receiving support from local corporations, foundations, private contributions and chapter fundraisers. Our fundraisers are varied but you can look forward to our annual Candace Golf Classic held the 2nd Tuesday in June at the Windstone Golf Course.
