Ronald McDonald House Charities Partners with The Hunger Project

Over 7 million children will die this year before reaching their fifth birthday — most are from developing countries and their deaths are largely preventable.
The most basic health interventions can mean survival. Among those interventions are vaccination against pneumonia and diseases that cause diarrhea — the leading global killers of children — as well as improving nutrition and sanitation, bolstering child health, and preventing transmission of disease.

The Hunger Project is thrilled to announce a new three-year partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) for carrying out our Health and Nutrition Program in eight African countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Malawi, Mozambique, Senegal, and Uganda.
Through this program, we anticipate that in 2013: 80,000 children will receive health monitoring in rural health clinics; 45,000 children will be vaccinated; 15,000 women will receive prenatal services; and 8,000 anti-malarial bed nets will be distributed. In addition THP will train 6,000 new local volunteer leaders called “Animators” to bring essential, relevant, life saving health information to their fellow villagers.
The mission of RMHC is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well being of children. Not only do they improve the health and well being of children directly through their own programs, but they also work with non-profit organizations around the world that are making an immediate, positive impact on children who need it most.
